Here Comes, The Big Boy

17 05 2008

They didn’t allow me to extend my passport, was told to make a new one. I’m going to look for whatever money I have left and try to make a new one. Anyway, went down to Sim Lim Sqaure yesterday to get a graphic card. Managed to cut the price down to $65 – which I think is quite cheap already.

That’s my ASUS EN8400GS graphic card. Doesn’t look very cool in terms of packaging but they’re still the best graphic card manufacturer. This graphic card wasn’t in my budget but my motherboard doesn’t have with a VGA port, so have to get this too. If not, I would have some extra cash to make my passport.

But anyway, I just take it as an upgrade for my computer in terms of graphics. So finally, The Big Boy is up and running. Very big thanks to my aunty, who lent me the money to get this.

I like the power button, reminds me of Iron Man. Only the power button looks cool, the rest of the casing is just plain simple. It’s fine with me because the speed is more important that the looks.

BenQ Monitor combined with Microsoft Keyboard and Optical Mouse may not the best combination. As long as it works, it’s fine with me. My Dell laptop has been thrown away in the corner of my room, waiting for them to come and collect on Tuesday.

Day Of Pain & Joy

15 05 2008

Went down to ICA today, intending to extend my passport expiry date. In the end, I made a wasted trip down there because I realised I forgot to bring my passport.

The conversation with the Service Staff is short but sweet:

Me: Excuse me, I would like to extend my passport
Lady: Sure, show me your passport please
[Searched my bag, only to realise I didn't bring it]
Me: Opps, I forgot to bring!
Lady: (-_-)

After that, met Alex because he’s helping me to fix up my DIY Desktop. Walked around Sim Lim Square and got the cheapest prices for the parts we need.

Motherboard: MSI P35 Neo3
Processor: Intel Dual Core E2220 – 2.40Ghz
RAM: Kingston 2GB PC667 DDR2
Hard Disk: Seagate 160GB SATA
Optical Drive: LG 20X DVD-RW
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Basic

And all these only costed me $546! Fixing your own PC is the best way to get good specifications cheaply (Monitor, Casing, Speakers, Mouse, Keyboard and stuffs are not included, mine costed about $800 plus in total.). A big thanks to Alex for his help. Now I just need one more basic graphics card to get the whole thing working.

So tomorrow, going down to ICA and then Sim Lim Square.

My Japanese Experience

13 05 2008

I’m blogging from my Dell laptop. Somehow, it managed to repair itself and came alive again – but I’m still going to refund it and get a DIY Desktop instead.

Went to Clarke Quay today, to this shopping mall called Central. Faith said that it’s been open since very long ago, but I only seen it today. This shows that I’m a thrifty neighbourhood guy rather than wasting my pocket money in expensive places.

There are tons of Japanese people in the mall and it’s still quite new, not many shops are open yet. Worse, the mall is filled with Japanese shops.

Went outside and sat down by the Singapore River – which stinks.

Left, right and center view. It’s great to have a good camera phone in your pocket at times. Was admiring the dirty residue by the river when some loud screams broke my attention. It was the G-MAX!

I felt scared for the people sitting on it. It’s as if they’re going to fly out any moment. But it’s a total waste of money because it cost $40 and it only lasted for a few swings. I rather jump into the Singapore River and immerse myself in dirty water than waste my money on that.

Anyway the highlight of the day was a little Japanese girl smiling at me in the lift at Central. I don’t know why she did that. So in the end, I decided not to smile back.

My Threadless Tee

5 05 2008

Just a short update. My Threadless Tee will be arriving in about a week’s time!

Hello Doctor

29 04 2008

Finally decided to visit a doctor today. It’s been so long since I last saw a doctor whenever I’m sick. I decided to be nice today and let the doctor earn some of my money.

When I wanted to register, they told me I owed them $4 for some fees that I didn’t pay in 2006. I couldn’t really remember when was it that I didn’t pay after seeing the doctor. Couldn’t really do much, so I paid.

Doctor gave me so many medicine, ended up paying $14.30 – the highest amount I ever paid in a polyclinic for doctor consultation. I forgot to request for tablets, so I ended up getting two bottles of liquid medicine. Maybe I’ll just bring the tablets to school tomorrow and leave the bottles at home.

Lack Of Everything

27 04 2008

Friday – Woke up early for school!
Saturday – Woke up early for Crossway Course
Sunday – Woke up early because I’m in-charge of sound today.

Not only I have to wake up early, but I slept late too. Have been so tired for the past few days, decided to come back home early to rest. People always tell me that when you have a cough, it’s best not to eat chicken. I didn’t believe them until today.

I ate chicken wing for my late lunch just now and I’m coughing like a chicken now. Have been coughing for the past one week but today’s the worst!

Poor Man

23 04 2008

I felt so rich after getting my pay from the job that I worked during my 3-weeks vacation. Before I could spend it on anything, the bills started coming and I’ve to pay them.

So, once again – bank account is almost empty again.

Dell Inspiron 1420

16 04 2008

Yeah, my aunty just told me that I will be getting my new laptop tomorrow! Finally I won’t have to use my sister’s computer which I cannot even do anything on. All I’m doing everyday is just to check my e-mail and read the news.

I can’t wait for it!

It’s Dead

29 03 2008

Alright. After about 5 years, my laptop finally passed away. Won’t be updating/online till I get a new PC. I’m using my sister’s computer now but I don’t have a habit of logging in to my accounts on other computer unless necessary.

I will still be checking my e-mail accounts though. So until then, see ya!

Special Haircut Failed II

20 03 2008

Alright, here’s a photo of my half botak haircut. It’s totally ugly and there’s nothing I can do about it – I can only wait for it to grow back.

Initially, I wanted to shave a smiley face behind but refrained from doing so because it will only make it worse. So I’ll just have this live with this for the next one month or so.

Special Haircut Failed

19 03 2008

That was my last photo taken. I wanted to do a “special” haircut. But it failed, so I ended up being half botak.

Fishing At Sembawang Park

11 03 2008

Aunty Judith invited Caleb, Faith and me to her family outing at Sembawang Park. They were planning to camp overnight there. It’s always nice to see parents bringing their kids out for some fun during the holidays.

It was low tide when we went reached there at about 6pm. Some of them went down to the beach to fish but from the looks of it, there won’t be any. So I decided to go back to the tent and have some food instead.

As night fell, they decided to fish with their net instead of the rod and the results was so much better. Within minutes, they caught a crab and a baby squid.

BBQ-ed for awhile and chat around. Nice feeling, but the rooftop would be better. Aunty Judith gave us money to take cab home after that because it’s late – what a nice lady she is.

That’s me and Faith – together with Aunty Judith’s daughter and maid. Her daughter is so adorable. Look like some ang moh.

My First Program

5 03 2008

Regarding my previous post, the reason I named my PSP Rachel it’s because I find the name nice. Not because of any girls. It’s a stupid thing to do.

Started on my Visual Basic project. Took me a lot of hours to work on the code and it’s not even half finished. Here’s a snippet of my code.

It’s super tiring and works your brain a lot. Now I know why people need days to code even a simple program. I’m doing a Unit Converter and a Tic-Tac-Toe game. I can sense that the game is going to be a challenge for me – but people learn better through the hard way isn’t it?

Here’s my unfinished product. I’m going to spend my weekends working on it and my Tic-Tac-Toe. It’s my school work after all. No pain, no gain.

We’re Just Tired

29 02 2008

Today, reached school an hour late only to find out my teacher didn’t come today. Slacked for the next two hours – surfing the net and chatting around. Yeah, that’s ITE life. When you have work, it can make you go crazy. When you have free time, you’ll cry because there’s too much of free time.

Next lesson was Engineering – quite a boring topic. My teacher is quite pissed with my class recently because he thinks that my class isn’t interested to study. A picture paints a thousand words, so here you go.

This guy sitting on my right is sleeping.

The guy on my left is doing the same thing.

Same goes for the two in front of me. So basically, I’m literally surrounded by sleeping people during the lesson since the row behind me is empty.

Update: Made some changes to the “About Me” page.
